ABOUT DEASON GARNER & SPARKS

Estate planning has been our focus for decades

Our legal history in Yuma dates to 1978. Since 1991, our practice has focused exclusively on Estate Planning—helping families make thoughtful decisions, put those decisions into place, and have experienced support when the plan needs to work.

OUR STORY

A legal practice shaped by Estate Planning

Larry Deason began practicing law in 1978, serving clients across a variety of legal matters. In 1991, he made the decision to focus his practice exclusively on Estate Planning. That decision established the foundation for the work our firm continues today.

Over the years, the firm name has changed as attorneys joined, retired, and the next generation of leadership took responsibility for the practice. Today, Shawn Garner and Thomas S. Sparks continue that work with a team focused on helping families create plans that reflect their lives and remain useful as circumstances change.

While our name has changed, the purpose behind the work has not.

WHAT DEFINES THE FIRM

Experience matters most when it is put to work for your family

Our history is important, but the value of that history is what it allows us to provide today: focused knowledge, practical education, and continuity when families need help.

Focused practice

Estate Planning has been the firm’s exclusive legal focus since 1991. That concentration shapes the questions we ask, the plans we build, and the support we provide later.

Local roots, broad reach

We live and work in Yuma and understand the community well. At the same time, we regularly work with families who spend part of the year here or own property and maintain relationships in other states.

Continuity over time

Our relationship does not end when documents are signed. We help clients keep plans current and provide a familiar place for the people responsible for carrying out those plans later.

ROOTED IN YUMA

Local relationships with families from across the country

Yuma is home. Our attorneys and team live and work here, and we have served generations of families in this community.

Yuma is also a place where people come from across the country to spend part of the year. That means many of the families we work with have homes, assets, family members, or planning considerations in more than one state.

We bring the same relationship-first approach to every family—whether they have lived in Yuma for generations or spend only part of the year here.

Questions about working with us

What families often want to know about our firm, our process, and ongoing support.

Will you be here for my family later?

Yes. When the people you trust become responsible for carrying out your wishes, they will not have to start from scratch. Our team can help them understand the plan and guide them through what needs to happen next.

What happens after my plan is signed?

Signing the documents is not the end of the relationship. We help you put the plan into place, keep it current over time, and answer questions as your family, assets, or circumstances change.

What makes your approach different?

We treat estate planning as an ongoing relationship, not a one-time document transaction. We focus on estate planning, help clients keep plans current as life changes, and remain available when family members later need help carrying out the plan.

What happens during a consultation?

A consultation is a personal conversation about your family, your goals, and your questions. It gives you a chance to understand your options and decide whether our team is the right fit for you.

Why do you offer free seminars?

Because a good education is the first step toward making informed decisions for your family. Our seminars are designed to help you understand the basics, ask better questions, and decide what makes sense before you ever become a client.

Have a question about our firm or your family's planning?
